Yaiba: Samurai Legend Season 2 Premieres January 9, 2027

The official website for Yaiba: Samurai Legend, the new television anime based on Gōshō Aoyama's manga, has announced that its second season will premiere on January 9, 2027. A new visual for the upcoming season, which will cover the "Kaguya Arc," was also revealed. The series will continue to air on YTV, NTV, and their affiliates in Japan.

The second season will maintain its Saturday 5:30 p.m. JST timeslot, following the pattern of the first season, which debuted in April 2025. This broadcast schedule places it before the Detective Conan timeslot, forming the "Gōshō Aoyama Hour" block.

Returning Production Staff

Many key staff members from the first season are returning for the new installment. Takahiro Hasui will once again direct the anime at Wit Studio, with animation cooperation from Studio Kurm. Tōko Machida is again in charge of series scripts, and Yoshimichi Kameda returns as character designer and chief animation director. Takeshi Maenami is also back as sub-character designer and main animator.

The music will again be composed by Yutaka Yamada and Yoshiaki Dewa. Haru Yamada is the sound director, and Maiko Okada returns as the animation producer. Yūsuke Takeda is the art director, Satoshi Hashimoto is responsible for color design, and Yūdai Oda is the director of photography.

Streaming and Manga Information

For international viewers, the first season of Yaiba: Samurai Legend is available for streaming on Netflix in North America, Latin America, Australia, and New Zealand. In the United States, it can also be streamed on Hulu.

Viz Media has licensed the anime and is also releasing the original manga in English. The manga, created by Gōshō Aoyama, was serialized in Shogakukan's Weekly Shonen Sunday from September 1988 to December 1993, concluding with 24 compiled volumes. The story follows Yaiba's encounters with kendo expert Takeshi Onimaru and the awakening of ancient powers like the Fujinken and Raijinken.
