Trapped in a Dating Sim Watch Order by Release Date

The complete anime consists of two 12-episode seasons produced by studio ENGI. The release order is the same as the chronological order, as the second season is a direct sequel to the first.

1. Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games Is Tough for Mobs (2022)

The first season serves as the entry point into the series. Airing in Spring 2022, its 12 episodes establish the unique setting and central conflict. The story introduces Leon, an office worker reincarnated into an otome game where women hold all the power and men face bleak prospects.

Using his knowledge from his previous life, Leon's only goal is to exploit the game's systems to live a peaceful life away from the main story. His plans are quickly derailed when his actions lead him to befriend the game's key female characters, causing the plot to deviate in unpredictable ways. This season follows his initial struggles at the royal academy as he makes a name for himself despite his best efforts to remain a simple mob.

2. Trapped in a Dating Sim: The World of Otome Games is Tough for Mobs Season 2 (2026)

Airing from July 8 to September 23, 2026, the second season is a direct continuation of the story. This 12-episode sequel picks up after Leon has firmly established himself as a major player in the kingdom, whether he likes it or not. The consequences of his story-altering decisions become more severe.

Having warped the game's original narrative, Leon is dragged into a large-scale conspiracy that threatens to destabilize the entire kingdom. The stakes are raised from school-life conflicts to matters of national security, forcing him to use his knowledge and power to protect the new life and relationships he has built.

Streaming availability is subject to regional licensing, so it is always best to check these platforms directly to confirm access in your country.

The anime was animated by Studio ENGI. Now that both seasons are complete, streaming is the most convenient way to experience the story of Leon's struggle against the conventions of his new otome world.

Will There Be a Season 3 of Trapped in a Dating Sim?

As of late 2026, a third season of Trapped in a Dating Sim has not been announced. The second season concluded its broadcast on September 23, 2026, so it is still early for news of a potential continuation. Production committees typically assess a season's performance before greenlighting a sequel.

There is strong potential for more of the anime to be made. The series is an adaptation of a light novel that is already finished. This means the animation studio has a complete, established story to adapt, avoiding the common issue of an anime catching up to an ongoing source material.

The series maintains a solid fanbase, with an average score of 70/100 on AniList from over 59,000 members. While not a guarantee, this popularity makes a continuation plausible if the second season proves to be a financial success. For now, fans must wait for an official announcement.

How the Light Novel and Manga Fit In

The Trapped in a Dating Sim anime is based on a light novel series, which is the original source material. The story has also been adapted into a manga. For fans who want the full story without waiting for another anime season, these are the definitive sources.

Both the light novel and the manga adaptations are finished. This allows readers to experience the entire narrative, from beginning to end, including plot points and character details that may have been streamlined for the anime adaptation. Light novels, in particular, often provide deeper insight into the protagonist's thoughts and more extensive world-building.

If you finish Season 2 of the anime and wish to continue the story, you can pick up the light novel series from the volume that follows the anime's conclusion. You may need to consult fan communities to determine the exact starting point, as the anime's pacing can differ from the source.

What to Expect from Trapped in a Dating Sim's Genre Blend

Trapped in a Dating Sim stands out for its eclectic mix of genres, blending elements that appeal to a wide range of anime fans. The series is listed with genres including Action, Fantasy, Mecha, and Romance, creating a unique viewing experience.

At its core, the show is an isekai centered on reincarnation. The protagonist uses his knowledge of a game from his past life to gain an advantage, a popular trope in the genre. However, the series sets itself apart with its anti-hero lead. Leon's primary motivation is to live a quiet life, but his cynical and pragmatic actions constantly push him into the role of a hero, creating much of the story's conflict and comedy.

The otome game setting provides the foundation for its romance and school-life elements. The world's matriarchal society flips typical power dynamics, and the plot is driven by the protagonist disrupting the game's intended romantic pairings. The "Female Harem" tag reflects his accidental collection of powerful female allies, including the game's original heroine and villainess.

Beyond the romantic comedy, the series delivers high-stakes conflict through its fantasy and mecha elements. Magic is a key part of the world, but major battles are often decided by combat in large mechanical suits. This focus on action ensures the plot moves beyond school drama into political conspiracies and large-scale warfare, justifying its Action and Mecha genre tags.
