The anime adaptation of Naoya Matsumoto's Kaiju No. 8 manga will conclude with a theatrical film, Kaiju No. 8: The Movie, scheduled for release in 2027. This movie is set to be the final chapter for the anime series, following the events of its first two seasons.

The announcement was made during Jump Festa 2026, where a super teaser visual was also revealed. The visual featured the tagline, “The age of humanity ends.” Studio Production I.G, which handled the animation for the TV anime, is returning to produce the film. Studio Khara will again be responsible for the creature designs.

Anime and Manga Background

The Kaiju No. 8 anime series previously aired a total of 23 episodes between April 13, 2024, and September 27, 2025. The story follows Kafka Hibino, who dreams of joining the Japan Defense Force alongside his childhood friend Mina. After a sudden rule change makes him eligible, he attempts to join, but faces a unique challenge after becoming Kaiju No. 8.

The original manga by Naoya Matsumoto began serialization in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ platform. The manga concluded in July with Chapter 129, compiled into 16 volumes. Viz Media publishes the English version. In addition to the anime and manga, a game adaptation, Kaiju No. 8 THE GAME, launched worldwide on August 31, 2025.

Voice Actor's Comments
