The Cat and the Dragon Season 2 Announced, Set for 2027 Release

The official website and social media accounts for The Cat and the Dragon anime series have announced that a second season is officially in production. This new season is slated to air in 2027. Additionally, Crunchyroll has confirmed that it will stream the second season when it premieres.

The first season of The Cat and the Dragon, consisting of twelve episodes, is currently available for streaming on Crunchyroll. The platform describes the series as following an orphaned dragon named "Uncle Wings," who is adopted and raised by a family of magic-wielding cats. As he matures, Uncle Wings takes on the role of protector for his feline family.

Series Background

The anime is based on light novels written by Amara, which were originally published on the Shosetsuka ni Naro website from September 2013 to June 2014. Takarajimasha publishes the print version of the light novels in Japan, with ten volumes released to date. There is also a manga adaptation illustrated by Izumi Sasaki, which currently has thirteen volumes published in Japan.

The television anime adaptation is directed by Jin-Koo Oh at animation studio OLM. The series composition is handled by Mitsutaka Hirota, while character designs are a collaborative effort by Rie Nishino and Chiaki Kurakazu. Takahiro Obata is responsible for the music of the series. The announcement of a second season indicates continued support for the adaptation of Amara's original work.
