A new visual for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 has been unveiled, providing a look at the central characters Roman, D, Weak, and Talia, alongside other supporting figures. This release precedes the series' debut on Netflix on October 20.
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 is set in Night City, a world based on R. Talsorian Games' tabletop RPG and CD PROJEKT RED's Cyberpunk 2077 video game. The series is described as a standalone story that delves into themes of family, obsession, and legacy. It follows Weak, a former cyberpunk legend living without chrome and searching for purpose, and D, a nomad seeking revenge, which leads him to corpo secrets.
Production Details
The new series is directed by Kai Ikarashi, known for his work as an animation director on Little Witch Academia, at studio TRIGGER. Masahiko Otsuka, who worked on Promare, is handling the series composition. Character designs are by Ichigo Kanno, a key animator for Delicious in Dungeon, and the music is composed by Tsuneo Imahori, known for Trigun.
The first iteration of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi and also produced by studio TRIGGER. It received the Anime of the Year award at the 2023 Anime Awards.
